We've been getting the same call for months now.
A shop owner phones in, a little hesitant, and asks some version of: I heard ROOR shut down. Is that true? Should I be clearing the shelf?
The short answer is no. ROOR US is operating, supplying, and shipping. If you're a retailer who quietly stopped reordering because you assumed the brand was finished, you stopped for a reason that isn't accurate.
Here's the longer answer, because the confusion is understandable and it deserves a real explanation rather than a slogan.
Where is ROOR now?
ROOR has always been two things at once: a German origin story and a US operation.
When word of that reached the industry, it traveled the way industry news always travels — through sales reps, trade show floors, and group chats, losing precision at every hop. "Things changed in Germany" became "ROOR is closing" became "ROOR is gone" inside of about a quarter.
Nobody was being malicious. That's just how a distributed industry with no central press office passes information around.
What's actually true
Practically, for anyone buying or selling:
- Classic ROOR USA is still here
- Orders are shipping
- Authentication still works. The verification process for genuine ROOR product has not changed. If you know how to check a piece, keep checking it the same way.
- Warranty and support continue.

Why this rumor is more expensive than it looks
Here's the part that concerns us more than the sales impact, and it's the reason we're writing this instead of just answering the phone one shop at a time.
When an entire market believes a brand is dead, the counterfeit trade gets easier — not harder.
Think about how that works. If a retailer believes there's no official source anymore, then every ROOR-branded piece on offer looks equally unofficial. The question shifts from "is this authentic?" to "well, it's all grey market now anyway, so who's cheapest?" The rumor removes the entire basis for asking the authenticity question at all.
That's a gift to anyone pressing knockoff glass. It hands them a story: sure it's not official, nothing's official anymore.
It isn't true, and the retailers who act on it are the ones who end up holding counterfeit inventory with a trademark holder's letter in the mail. Because there is still a trademark holder. That's the whole point.
What this means if you're a retailer
Three practical things.
One: you can restock. If you drew down ROOR inventory because you thought the line was ending, that decision was based on bad information. Supply is available and you don't need to hedge.
Two: keep verifying. Nothing about the authenticity checks has changed. Glass thickness, joint quality, weld consistency, decal application, and — most reliably — sourcing from a supplier who can document provenance. A live brand with an active trademark holder means the authenticity question still has teeth.
Three: be skeptical of anyone using the rumor as a sales pitch. If a supplier is telling you the brand is finished and that's why they can offer you a number nobody else can, ask yourself what they're actually selling you. "It's all unofficial now" is not a discount explanation. It's a warning.
The straight version
ROOR US is here. We're taking orders, shipping product, supporting accounts, and enforcing the trademark. If you heard otherwise, you heard wrong, and we'd rather tell you directly than let you find out from a competitor's price list.
If you have questions about the status of a specific line, about your existing account, or about verifying product you already have on hand, call us. We'll give you a straight answer.
